The collaboration service Slack has now launched a new function whose purpose is to collect important documents and other things that belong together in one and the same place.
The new function is called “Canvas” and it is possible to tie a so-called canvas to each channel in Slack, but there is also the possibility of creating independent overall canvas collections for the entire group. In a canvas, users are then supposed to be able to insert documents, apps, users, files, FAQs and other things that have to do with the group’s overall purpose.
The idea behind the function is that everything that is important in a channel or the entire group should be gathered in one and the same place instead of being scattered in the conversation threads that are created in the Slack channels.
Slack has started rolling out the Canvas feature this week and writes in a post that it plans to be done with the rollout in the coming months. In the video above, you can check out how Canvas in Slack will work.
