A strange gadget was brought to the largest technology exhibition CES 2024 – a Skyted face mask with noise reduction mode. It can quiet down people who are too loud.
The mask has a porous structure that absorbs most sounds. There is also a special sound extraction system, similar to what is used in jet aircraft to reduce the volume of the turbines.
You can shout loudly with a mask, but the output will be a sound with a volume of no more than 25 dB (comparable to a quiet whisper or the ticking of a wristwatch).
Who can use the mask and when?
- You like to read in the library, but you received a call and really need to answer;
- You are a singer and you need to rehearse at home without disturbing your neighbors;
- You need to talk to a person in a noisy place;
- You are on an airplane/restaurant/public place and you are having a not so pleasant conversation on the phone;
- You love to play computer games at night.
The mask has a built-in microphone and a Bluetooth module for connecting to a smartphone. This means that the mask can be used as a headset. As an added bonus, the gadget can be used during a pandemic.
The Skyted silencer mask was rated at $399 (RUB 36,300). Already launched fundraising on Kickstarter. If the crowdfunding campaign is successful, the gadget will go on sale this year.
