Skyteam has just opened a lounge at Santiago International Airport in Chile, which will strengthen its offer in South America…
The 757m² facility was first announced in 2018 and is Skyteam’s first lounge in South America. It joins existing lounges at Istanbul, Vancouver and Dubai airports.
The Santiago facility is open to Skyteam Elite Plus members, as well as first and business class passengers, and is located on the first floor of the airport’s Terminal 2, Pier E, with views of the Andes.
Features include seating with charging stations, free Wi-Fi, showers and “a wide selection of buffets with international options available throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner” , as well as freshly made empanadas.
Santiago International Airport is served by Skyteam member carriers Aerolineas Argentinas, Aeromexico, Air France, Delta and KLM. The new lounge is open from three hours before the first flight of the day, until the departure of the last flight of a Skyteam company.
Meanwhile, the alliance has confirmed that its Sydney lounge will reopen later this year, after refurbishment and upgrades.
Commenting on the news, Skyteam CEO Kristin Colvile said, “As international travel resumes, we are delighted to enhance the customer experience by adding another lounge to our global network. We have combined the warmth of Chilean hospitality with elements of the country’s delicious cuisine to provide an inviting space for customers to enjoy before their flight.”
In October last year, it was confirmed that the Skyteam lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4 had been permanently closed, following the expiry of a rental contract.
It is possible to do a virtual tour of the new salon here.
