Skyline and Taunus view | Wetterau

A few years ago, Nadin Otto discovered green spaces and hiking trails through Heilsberger school friends on the southwestern city limits of Bad Vilbel to Frankfurt. Since then she has regularly used the local recreation area to go for a walk and relax.

Regardless of whether it is snowing, storming, raining, the sun is shining or the stars are twinkling in the sky: Nadin Otto is drawn to nature in all weathers. One of her favorite places in the Wetterau is on the outskirts of Bad Vilbel on the Heilsberg.

There she enjoys the view of the Frankfurt skyline and the Taunus on walks with friends, but also on her own. »Bad Vilbel is surrounded on three sides by Frankfurt. The Main metropolis borders on the spring city in the south, west and south-east. “

Like many spa townspeople, Nadin Otto was born in Frankfurt, but grew up and went to school in Bad Vilbel. The trained make-up artist and dental assistant lives and works in Bad Vilbel.

She discovered her favorite place on the Heilsberg years ago through schoolmates. She has been coming here regularly ever since. “When I look out into nature, I relax, leave the hustle and bustle behind and take a deep breath.” There is also a lot to see. From here, the Frankfurt skyline with the “Ginnheimer asparagus” in the south is within reach. At 337 meters, the Europaturm is the tallest building in Frankfurt and the second tallest in Germany after the Berlin TV tower. In the west you have a wonderful view of the Taunus and in the north of the Massenheim area. «Part of your walk is part of the 66-kilometer circular walk in the Main metropolis. In 2014 it was named the most beautiful metropolitan path by the magazine »Wandermagazin«. The path along the Vilbel city limits is varied. It leads past meadows, fields and orchards. The Frankfurt Green Spaces Department has laid out wild meadows on some of the plots, thereby creating valuable habitat for a species-rich flora and fauna.

Domestic meadows are among the most species-rich ecosystems. Plants, insects, birds, mammals and microorganisms form a community there. “Especially in spring and early summer there is a buzzing, buzzing and chirping in the meadows.

Bees, bumblebees, beetles, butterflies and birds come together. «Many plants serve as food and shelter for insects. Little owls and many other birds live in the apple and fruit trees, as they can be observed again and again on their long walks. The core city dweller thinks it is nice that there is a retreat for nature, animals and people practically on her doorstep. »I also like to come here for a picnic in the summer, especially on weekends and public holidays. And I love to go for a walk under the starry sky in the evening. «Nadin Otto not only likes to be out in nature with her friends, but also likes to be on stage. In 2009/2010 she was crowned the 35th apple wine queen Nadin II at the 281st Berger Markt and has been fasting night for years. With her photo “Frankfurt Skyline Bodypainting” she won first prize in the photo competition “European City Frankfurt am Main – Living in Diversity”.

Since she is single, she took the opportunity and attended a “dinner date” on television a few weeks ago. “That was an interesting experience. I met three nice men in the course of the show. Making new acquaintances is currently hardly possible due to Corona, as all bars and restaurants are closed, “she regrets.
