Global concern is fueled by the flare-up in the Middle East, with Israel expanding its military operations, the military invasion of Gaza and Benjamin Netanyahu announcing that the war has entered its next phase.
In this backdrop of dense developments, international analysts are examining the blows that Israel will achieve against Hamas and the points where the attacks will be concentrated.
As the British Sky News network writes, the main battles will likely take place in underground tunnels.
Following the expansion of Israel’s ground operations, a defense and security expert told the British network that most of the fighting for the Israeli army could be fought underground.
“We have seen the weakening of Hamas’ military infrastructure by the Israeli army,” he said.
He added that he expected most of the fighting to take place in the underground tunnels estimated to be hundreds of kilometers beneath Gaza.
He concluded by saying that it is possible but at the same time difficult to achieve the double goal of destroying Hamas and returning the hostages.
Israeli army: The war is entering a new phase, a ground invasion is necessary
The war between Israel and Hamas is entering a new phase, as confirmed by the Israeli army with a new message in which it officially announced the start of the ground invasion of Gaza.
The Israeli military specifically broadcasts that its “best soldiers and commanders” are currently in Gaza.
The Chief of the General Staff, General Herzi Halevi, in a video message, announced that Israel is moving to the next stage of the war.
“Our forces are currently operating on the territory of the Gaza Strip,” he said, adding that fire continues to fall and hit the “enemy.”
He added that the Israeli forces are targeting the leadership of the terrorist Hamas.
“To annihilate the enemy, there is no other way than to enter its territory by force,” he emphasized.
The head of the Israeli army referred to the hostages being held by Hamas, saying there were believed to be 229 while stressing that this particular mission was a “supreme national effort”.
“We will win” concludes Halevi’s message.
The Israeli military reported that during recent military operations involving armored, engineer and infantry units on the northern side of the Gaza Strip, several terrorists were targeted. In addition, a trapped house was targeted from the air. In another attack, helicopters hit a building used by Hamas.
In a video posted on its Twitter account, the Israeli army presented its latest operations in Gaza.
Combined combat forces of armor, combat engineers and infantry have been operating on the ground in northern Gaza since early Friday evening.
