Argentine Lionel Messi, the French star of Paris Saint-Germain, has become the most scoring player with European clubs in all tournaments, ahead of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Al-Nasr player.
Messi contributed two goals to lead Paris Saint-Germain to regain its balance after two defeats, by winning 2-0 at its host Nice, and maintaining the top of the French Football League, on Saturday.
Messi gave the Parisian club the lead in the 26th minute, and set up the second goal for defender Sergio Ramos 14 minutes before the end.
With this goal, Messi’s score became 702 goals with clubs in all tournaments, including 672 with Barcelona, and 30 with Saint-Germain.
As for the Portuguese star Ronaldo, he scored 701 goals with the European clubs he played for in all football tournaments.
It is worth noting that Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier had been subjected to harsh criticism after losing the last two matches in the French League, but the team recovered to raise its tally to 69 points from 30 games.
The defending champion is six points ahead of second-placed Lance, with eight rounds to go.
