Sky closes two departments and fires many employees

After Sky Deutschland had already lost more and more of its independence in favor of the headquarters in London in the past few months, the restructuring of the pay-TV company is now continuing. The colleagues from “Clap“First reported about a wave of layoffs at the station and also published an email from Sky CEO Devesh Raj, which he had sent to the employees this week.

Raj has announced the closure of two departments, Sky Creative Services and Technical Field Service no longer have a future at Sky Deutschland. “Clap” reports that around 110 employees will be laid off as a result of the measure. Sky does not want to confirm this number, but according to DWDL.de information, the layoffs are at this level in terms of numbers.

Sky Creative Services is the creative in-house agency of Sky Deutschland, here, among other things, trailers and other program clips are produced. It became known some time ago that, with Barbara Haase, Sky’s head of marketing, would be leaving the company at the end of the year. For example, the Technical Field Service supports people who have problems installing Sky devices at home. While the technology support is to come from external service providers in the future, the aim is to bundle the activities of Sky Creative for the entire group in a new, European creative hub.

“Such decisions are never easy, but they are the right decisions for Sky,” explains Devesh Raj to the employees in his email. The cooperation with the group is being deepened in order to “expand Sky’s competitive advantage in all markets”. Some colleagues have been offered termination agreements, according to the Sky boss. Talks with the affected employees have already started and they have already met with the works council and “informed them about these two decisions”.
