Sky and TV8 TV times of the 2024 Australian GP at Phillip Island

MotoGP Gp Australia 2024 – The MotoGP circus returns to the track and will do so at Phillip Island, scene of the 17th stage of the MotoGP, the Australian Grand Prix, the second hat-trick of the 2024 MotoGP.

The double Japanese victory brought Pecco Bagnaia closer to the top, now “only” 10 points away. The gap from Jorge Martin can be read from several points of view, they can be few if you don’t make any mistakes and you win or finish ahead of the #89 Ducati, or many in the event of a mistake.

The Australian track seems more congenial to Martin, even if last year the Pramac Racing Spaniard threw away a certain victory due to a risky tire choice (he chose the soft and finished fifth after dominating up to a few km from the finish line, ed.) . In 2023 the Sprint was not held and the “long” race and “short” race were reversed, with the latter which, as mentioned, was then skipped due to bad weather.

The victory (the only one in MotoGP) went to Johann Zarco, then riding the second Ducati Pramac. It will be difficult if not impossible to try to repeat that performance aboard Honda, which, like Yamaha, is going through one of the darkest periods in its history.

The “usual” Ducatisti will be able to intervene in the fight, we are talking about Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez, with Franco Morbidelli, Fabio di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez a step further back.

At KTM we expect the redemption of Pedro Acosta, who after the pole complete with a record at the Motegi track ended up on the ground in both the Sprint and Sunday’s race. We’ll see if the Australian atmosphere will also be good for Aprilia, which has no longer been a protagonist for too long now.

AUSTRALIA GP Weather

At Phillip Island, variable weather is currently expected on Friday and Saturday, while sunshine is expected on Sunday.

Info Gp Australia

The Phillip Island track measures 4.4 km and has 7 left-hand corners and 5 right-hand corners. The circuit was built in 1956 and hosted the Australian Grand Prix in 1997. Last year the winner was Marc Marquez, after a race of ‘sports with Johann Zarco, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales and many others. The undisputed king of the Australian track is Casey Stoner, here the home driver achieved 6 consecutive victories and 6 poles. Same number of victories in MotoGP also for Valentino Rossi, but the Pesaro native can also boast a victory in 500, but only 1 pole. Of the active riders, Marc Marquez is the one with the most poles.
