Skull & Bones is still alive, but was rebooted

If we were surprised not to see certain games during the last Ubisoft Forward, as Gods & Monsters, no one was really surprised to hear no news from Skull & Bones. Nothing surprising since the game, which will not arrive before the next fiscal year at the earliest, is apparently started from scratch by changing its basics.

Towards a more lively world

VGC reports that, according to his sources, the game was turned into a service game. Before that, the title would have had a hard time positioning itself in front of a Watch Dogs or one Assassin’s Creed in order of importance at Ubisoft, which resulted in multiple delays.

Skull & Bones therefore started its reboot last year, to make its open-world a more lively world, with environmental narrative, inspired in particular by Fortnite. In short, the title will always have a narrative dimension, but the world will be constantly changing, and will be particularly influenced by the actions of the community. The game would put more focus on cooperation between the players.

This change of direction once again indicates that the title is not ready to go out. Do not wait until April 2021, minimum, as said Ubisoft’s latest financial report. Hopefully at least this time, Skull & Bones is heading for the right destination and will not be sidelined again.
