Ubisoft’s money woes continue. In his latest quarterly report the company revealed that it continues to earn less than expected, thanks to weak sales figures for both Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023.
As CEO Yves Guillemot says, Ubisoft has therefore adjusted its strategy. Going forward, the company will invest in fewer games, with the aim of making these as strong as possible. The first part of the strategy will be to once again delay Skull and Bones.

The troubled pirate game has struggled to reach a final launch ever since its announcement in 2017. Late last year the team landed on March 9, but now the date has slipped again and the plan is to launch early in the financial year 2023-2024 – apparently sometime in the summer if we interpret Ubisoft’s statement correctly.
– We have decided to postpone [spillets] launch to gain more time to showcase a much more polished and balanced experience, as well as to make people more aware of the game.
Furthermore, Ubisoft is scrapping three previously unannounced games. The developer did not say what kind of projects are involved, but it is pointed out that this is in addition to the four games that were canceled last summer.
We know from earlier that Ubisoft has a series of Assassin’s Creed games coming, starting with Assassin’s Creed Mirage later this year. In addition, the developer is tinkering with the aforementioned Skull and Bones, as well as other postponed projects such as Beyond Good and Evil 2 and a Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.
