This year, two Latvian cyclists participated in the prestigious cycling tour “Tour de France”. For Tomas Skujiņš, this was the third time he had started a prestigious bicycle ride, but Krists Neilands made his debut.

“It was a really emotional moment in my life as I entered the Champs Elysées. These feelings were really very indescribable, because until now I had only watched them on television, ”Neilands told about his feelings after the finish in the Champs Elysees. He was very happy to have fulfilled one of his life’s dreams. After the finish, there was an overall event of the team, which made the day even brighter.

Neilands did not deny that his own and the team’s goals were slightly higher, but he was generally satisfied with his performance. He hoped that he would still go on the “Tour de France” and be able to prove himself even more.

Neiland found that many athletes have said that this has been one of the most difficult competitions of the Tour de France. He is very happy to be able to endure these three weeks and finish. But overall, the past three weeks have been the most difficult in his athlete career.

Meanwhile, Skujiņš revealed that after the finish the team noted a bit of success – and how not, if one of the members of Skujiņš team “Trek-Segafredo” cyclist Richie Forte climbed the third step of the podium. In addition, Richie had a daughter during the bike tour, and the athlete hurried home to see his offspring after the race.

The herringbone had to go to the tenth stage experience a fall. The athlete found that the clothes could not protect at the time of the fall, when the speed is 80 kilometers per hour – the abrasions were severe. It was especially difficult the next day. Only now, already after the finish, the abrasions have healed so much that you can do without bandages, but for several days Tom has been racking his teeth and only later he has been able to seriously help his teammates.
