Milan Skriniar is certain he will still be an Inter player next season.
Current rumors indicate that the Nerazzurri will have to sell one, if not more, key player in the summer transfer window to seek to balance the books after a troubled financial period. Skriniar is one of the names that comes up often as a possible sacrifice but the defender doesn’t seem to have the slightest intention of leaving the club after winning Serie A this season.
When the Slovak newspaper Sports News asks him if he will help Inter defend their scudetto next season, Skriniar simply replies: “Absolutely yes.”
“There have been rumors and there will be more, but I’ve never listened to them and it won’t be any different after this season.”
“I want to take advantage of these wonderful feelings for now, then I will prepare for the Euro with Slovakia.”
Inter have won Serie A for the first time since 2010 and Skriniar is convinced Antonio Conte deserves most of the credit:
“He has a vision for what he wants and he’s making it happen. Everything is going perfectly under his leadership.”
“The reason we’ve only lost twice this season is because of the winning mentality that Conte has instilled in all of us. We are constantly improving in training. We work hard and you can see it in the games. matches. “
“We have always dominated our games and shown that we are in good physical condition.”
Inter found themselves atop the table for the first time in February, but Skriniar reveals that Conte wanted his players to avoid talking too much about the title:
“Even when we were in the lead, Conte didn’t want us to talk about the scudetto, especially outside the locker room. He insisted that we had to focus on ourselves, our games, our performances and our results.”
“We were saying in the locker room that we were trying to win the title but we never claimed to be the favorites or the best in public. It helped us win the championship.”
There are 3 games left for Inter before they can focus their attention on next season and the defense of this duly acquired title. Skriniar is confident that Antonio Conte will have his sights set on one game in particular:
“He could make some changes in his squad but he will want to win all three games, especially the trip to juventus.”
“It’s proof of his mentality. He told us we could party a bit but we still have three tough games to deal with.”
Skriniar is also approaching his personal season, during which he was able to regain his place in the starting 11 after a complicated end of the season last year:
“I really appreciated that the coach immediately put me back on the team after I was able to recover from the Covid-19.”
“I could feel he was counting on me and I was grateful to him for that.”
“I’m happy to have been able to give him back the confidence he placed in me, not only through my performances but even more importantly, with a title.”
“I’m happy that things have changed since the end of last season; I’ve played regularly this season and the title is ours!”
And you ? Are you happy with Milan’s permanence at Inter or would you prefer to see him play in a more competitive league, with real opposition?
