The Skoda car brand will launch production of four models in Kazakhstan
The Czech company has planned to start production of four car models at the Allur plant in Kazakhstan. According to the brand’s press service, the company will soon begin producing Octavia liftbacks and three crossovers: Kodiaq, Kamiq and Karoq. The start of production of these models is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
At the same time, the first official Skoda car dealerships will be opened in Kazakhstan. According to the company’s plans, 15 showrooms will be opened in the largest cities of the country in 2024.
Skoda estimates the potential for growth in the local automotive market to be significant. Total sales in Kazakhstan are forecast to exceed 200,000 vehicles over the next five years.
The total investment in the project will be about 26 billion tenge (almost 5.4 billion rubles). These funds will be used to organize production and create a dealer network for the brand. It is expected that, as part of cooperation with the European partner, approximately 1,500 new jobs will be created in Kazakhstan.
Currently, the Allur plant in Kazakhstan is already producing cars from several major brands, including JAC, Chevrolet, Kia and Jetour. In addition, there is a possible restoration of the assembly of Lada cars. AvtoVAZ is currently considering this possibility after production of Lada cars at the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant (which is owned by Allur) was suspended in 2022.
