“The last two years have been very difficult for the industry as a whole, as we have had to deal with both the effects of the covid-19 pandemic and rising energy, raw material and material prices,” said Didier Pfleger, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Transportation.

Last year, Škoda invested 1.4 billion in production in Pilsen, Ostrava, Šumperk and Otanmäki, Finland, a year-on-year increase of almost seventy percent.
–
It invested two billion in research and development, a fifth more than the year before.

“The condition for our further growth is the ability to offer customers new technologies, streamline production and make significant progress in digitization. “I believe that the successes achieved in these areas in 2021 will help us to be even more competitive with Europe’s biggest players and win contracts in new territories,” said Pfleger.

The company employs over 6,500 people, eight hundred more last year. Škoda Transportation is owned by PPF and belongs to the wider Škoda Group.
