Skoda has published a report on global sales for 2021: despite the pandemic and the continuing shortage of electronic components, the Czech company managed to sell 878,200 new cars worldwide. This figure is 4.4 percent less than in 2020.
According to the brand’s forecasts, the situation with the supply of semiconductors will normalize in the second half of this year, which will have a positive impact on sales volumes.
Skoda’s bestseller last year was the Octavia, which sold 200,800 copies worldwide (-22 percent compared to 2020). In second place is the Kamiq crossover with 120,700 units (-6.1 percent). Karoq closes the top three with 119,200 units.
The top five also includes Fabia and Kodiaq, whose sales totaled 99,100 and 98,600, respectively, with demand falling for Fabia by six per cent and Kodiaq’s by 25.1 per cent. Separately, the company noted the presentation of the electric Eniyaq, whose total delivery amounted to almost 45 thousand copies.
In 2022, Skoda is expected to release updated versions of Kodiaq and Karoq, as well as the new electric cross-coupe Enyaq Coupe iV.
