The first customers who order the cars now will receive them in the second quarter of 2024. The flagship of the Mladá Boleslav car company’s portfolio of models with internal combustion engines is coming to the domestic market first in a station wagon body variant with one engine. Additional power units, as well as a liftback version, will expand the range of the Superb model range in the course of 2024. The recommended retail price for the diesel version starts at 1,035,000 crowns including VAT.
The new Superb of the fourth generation will be the first to offer an engine with so-called mild-hybrid technology. An automatic transmission will now become standard. The fourth generation of the car is longer and higher than its predecessor, but at the same time it is slightly narrower.
The offer includes three petrol engines with outputs ranging from 110 kW to 195 kW and two diesel engines with outputs of 110 kW and 142 kW. The portfolio is completed by a new plug-in hybrid drive, offered exclusively for the station wagon.
Recording of the presentation of the new Škoda Suberb
The new generation of the Suberb model will no longer be produced in Kvasiny, but in the plant of the Volkswagen concern in Bratislava. Production will start towards the end of this year, the first customers will receive their cars in the second quarter of 2024, the automaker said.
So far, Škoda has sold more than 1.6 million cars of the first three generations of the Superb. Unlike sister Volkswagen and its Passat model, Škoda will also offer a liftback variant. As Škoda Auto board member Martin Jahn described, the liftback is important for Asian markets and has traditionally sold well in the Czech Republic or Poland, calling the station wagon a universally popular choice.
The automaker emphasizes that it has significantly improved the aerodynamics of the new Superb. For the liftback version, the improvement reaches ten percent compared to its predecessor (the value of the air resistance coefficient dropped to 0.23), for the combi version up to 15 percent (the value of the air resistance coefficient dropped to 0.25).
The ending third generation Škoda Superb was introduced in 2015, 845 thousand cars have been produced so far. The largest European market for it was Germany, followed by the Czech Republic and Great Britain.
