Škoda Scala and Kamiq First Edition: Features, Price, and Options

From 599,900 crowns, the Škoda Scala and Kamiq went on sale after the facelift, namely in the First Edition version. They will offer 17″ wheels, headlights with LED Matrix technology or a system for semi-autonomous driving in certain situations. The automatic transmission is for an additional fee of 40,000. Cheaper versions, we assume, will come to the market later.

At first glance, the relatively high starting price of the modernized scala and kamiq, just under 600,000 crowns, is definitely not the so-called “starting price”. The car company starts selling its new products with a relatively rich equipment.

A number of elements are still common today in more expensive cars, especially the aforementioned combination of adaptive cruise control, active lane guidance and blind spot monitoring, which Skoda refers to as “assisted driving 1.5+”. It’s not fully self-driving, far from it, but on the highway, for example, the car should be able to basically drive itself as long as the driver keeps a light grip on the steering wheel.

Shame Scala

In addition, there is a lot of other electronics on board, such as a reversing camera, parking sensors at both ends of the car, a “virtual pedal”, i.e. electric opening of the trunk by kicking the feet under the bumper, a large display in the place of the instrument panel or keyless access connected to the alarm.

From the outside, the kamiq First Edition will offer black painted mirrors and a roof including A-pillars; scala does not offer this element. However, both cars get “First Edition” badges behind the front wheels.

The mentioned price of 599,900 crowns means a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI with 115 horsepower under the hood, which drives the front wheels through a manual six-speed gearbox. Anyone interested in a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG must throw in 40,000 for both models. There is also a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI that offers 150 hp and is linked exclusively to the DSG; it costs from 680,000 without one hundred crowns.

Other extras include, for example, 18″ Fornax wheels, the addition of navigation to the infotainment system – the Smartlink smartphone mirroring system will be standard, we assume – a glass roof or a heated windshield.

In addition to the above, the standard equipment includes Front Assist, i.e. automatic emergency braking in the event of an impending collision, lane monitor, traffic sign recognition, a number of airbags or automatic braking when reversing if the car should hit something.
