Skoda now produces one purely electric car, the Enyaq IV. It will come on the market at the beginning of the year Enyaq iV in the Coupé version with dynamic roof line. Subsequently, the company will produce three more electric cars.

“We fought hard for that on the Group’s premises, and in the end we enforced them. This is very good news for the Škoda brand. We urgently need these cars in order to remain attractive for our customers, especially in Europe, and to permanently maintain jobs in our Czech plants, ”he said in a letter to Schäfer employees.

Unions are worried about tightening emission limits and the forced transition to electromobility. According to them, it will be a worse crisis than the current crisis with a lack of chips for electronics.
–
“The situation will be worse in the future, where the number of employees will correspond to the types of assigned products – cars and components, automation and Industry 4.0, possibly also the separation and transfer of competencies between individual brands and plants within the Volkswagen Group.
–
If anyone wanted to research it, the situation is really serious there, “Jaroslav Povšík, chairman of the works council, told the weekly Škodovácký odborář.
–
The transition to electromobility was also discussed at the Škoda Auto corporate council, which was hosted by Martin Jahn, a member of the Board of Directors.
–
According to him, Škoda is negotiating with the government to benefit electric cars and to invest in infrastructure in the Czech Republic. In the future, there will be charging stations on motorways, important railway stations and rest stops.
–
“We are also working on Volkswagen to build one of the giga battery factories in the Czech Republic,” said Jahn.
–
Volkswagen also introduced a smaller electric car about the size of a VW Polo, with a Škoda car on the same platform. Its price is to fall to half a million crowns, and it will therefore become an affordable electric car.
–
According to Jahn, cars with internal combustion engines will be produced for many years to come, as will spare parts. For new cars, new components and other components will be needed. There should be no risk of collective redundancies.
–
“Planning rounds take into account retraining and placement of employees. Retraining will take place gradually together with the disruption of internal combustion engines, “said Jahn.
