The current Skoda Fabia hatchback and station wagon family, third generation this year marks seven years. On average, this is how long the life cycle of the two previous generations lasted, which means that the debut of the new Fabia is not far off. On European roads, there are more and more prototypes of the next generation hatchback, which, as it might seem at first glance, have already practically lost their camouflage. However, in fact, the body is still partially pasted over with an intricate camouflage film with fake overlays, thanks to which the car looks more like a five-door of the current model.
But it was not possible to hide a number of interesting details. In profile, the new Fabia looks different with a more sloping roof, increased C-pillar tilt, a large spoiler on the fifth door and a new shape of the side glazing. The rear lights have additional sections on the tailgate (the same solution will be for the updated Volkswagen Polo hatchback for Europe). It is most difficult to see the new clothes in front, but there are enough of them there too – with the change of generation Fabia will get LED headlights of a modified form, a larger grille and a new bumper with “inverted” trapezoidal fog lights. In addition, there are now four parking sensors on the rear bumper instead of three.
Alas, there are no pictures of the salon yet. But with the transition to the modular MQB-A0 platform (the current model uses only its elements), which finally parallels Fabia with more modern models Volkswagen Polo, Audi A1 and Seat Ibiza, she will probably get a virtual dashboard and a new media system, as well as many electronic assistants and an additional set of security systems. According to preliminary information, the line of engines will mainly consist of 1.0 TSI turbo configuration, while electrification may again bypass Fabia.
Apparently, the premiere of the new Skoda Fabia hatchback will take place in the coming months, and a little later the station wagon will arrive in time, which in the European market will become the last a kind of B + class model. However, the new Fabia is unlikely to appear in Russia. The third generation never made it to us, because without the localization of production, such machines in our market are doomed to failure.
