Škoda City Crossover Kamiq and Compact Model Scala: Modernization and New Features Revealed

Škoda has finished work on the modernization of the City crossover Kamiq and the compact model Scala, without announcing the prices of its new products yet.

Both models have been on the market for about four years, so face lift in the process, they got new lights, a new front and rear bumper design, as well as the brand name in large printed letters typical of the latest Škoda models.

Both will be delivered with diode front lights, but for the rear it will be possible to order modern Matrix-LED lights for an additional fee. By choosing the Selection equipment package, the buyer will be able to enjoy the advantages of LED fog lights.

Both models already in the basic version will have digital gauges and a multimedia screen with a size of 8 and 8.25 inches, respectively, as well as Škoda’s typical Simply Clever solutions. For an additional fee, an electrically folding trunk lid is available for the first time.

The entry-level engine is still a 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit mated to a five-speed gearbox and 95 hp (70 kW), the new and more powerful version is expected to get a 115 hp unit mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an automated seven-speed DSG box, but the most powerful choice is still the 1, 5-liter four-cylinder 150 HP unit with both transmission options.

Škoda has developed a stiffer chassis for the Scala model, which increases ground clearance by 15 millimeters, while both vehicles can be ordered with a sportier chassis, which brings the Scala closer to the road by 15 millimeters, and in the case of the Kamiq, it is 10 millimeters.
