Škoda Begins Production of Second Generation Kodiaq Crossover with Plug-in Hybrid Modification

The Czech automobile company Škoda has started the production of the second generation crossover Kodiaq at its plant in Kvasin.

Škoda reports that 49 million euros have been invested in the Kodiaq II project to modernize the production lines, assembly shops and technologies of its large SUV, including to prepare for the production of the Plug-in hybrid modification, which will be available to Kodiaq buyers for the first time.

Škoda also made other preparations, such as moving Superb production to the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, thereby freeing up additional capacity at the Kvasina plant for Kodiaq and Karoq production.

Up to 410 Kodiaqs are scheduled to roll off the assembly line each day, with the factories combining capacity to crank out up to 150,000 vehicles a year.

Statistics show that 870,000 copies of the first generation Kodiaq were produced in large numbers. The crossover was produced in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, China and until 2022 also in Russia.
