However, the carmaker has not yet made a decision on a potential market entry in Vietnam, said Martin Jahn, a member of the Škoda Auto Board of Directors.

“Škoda Auto is continuously evaluating potential locations for entering new markets. The Vietnamese car market is relatively small, but the fastest growing in Southeast Asia. With a population of 98 million and a fast-growing economy, Vietnam is a very promising market for the Škoda brand, ”said Jahn.

According to him, the political and trade ties between the two countries represent extensive opportunities for cooperation.

Marcel Winter, the honorary chairman of the Czech-Vietnamese company, also informed about the possible entry of Škoda Auto into the Vietnamese market.
–
According to him, a delegation of the carmaker visited Vietnam from 11 to 18 November. According to Winter, Škoda Auto plans to start importing its latest car models manufactured in Europe to Vietnam as early as next year.
–
According to him, he plans to start construction of a production plant in the northern province of Quang Ninh in Vietnam. The first cars could roll off the production line in Quang Ninh province at the end of 2023.
–
“The Škoda Auto delegation discussed these intentions at the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, but also at the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Hanoi,” said Winter. However, Škoda did not confirm this information.
–
Last year, Škoda Auto delivered over a million cars worldwide.
