According to the German daily Bild, the Volkswagen Group, which also includes the domestic carmaker Škoda Auto, is convening over 110,000 cars worldwide for service. This also applies to the Škoda Octavia, Karoq, Kodiaq and Superb models with 2.0 TSI evo petrol engines, which were manufactured during August 2020 and later. There are 2,028 cars in the Czech Republic.

These cars run the risk of fire under certain specific conditions. But the solution to this problem is very easy – just stop by a service center. The service technician must then remove the engine cover from the car (well, you would probably be able to do it yourself…), otherwise there is a risk of loosening, thermal deformation and, in extreme cases, fire. At present, according to Škoda, it is not possible to replace the covers with others, due to production capacities. When the covers are ready, the car owner should come to the workshop for a second time for retrofitting.

But it’s not just cars with a purely internal combustion engine that go to service stations. Another thousand cars sold in the Czech Republic – the Superb, Octavia iV and Octavia RS iV models with plug-in hybrid drive must also go to the mechanic and also due to the risk of ignition. This time, however, the solution will be a little different, but similarly uncomplicated. According to ČTK, an insulating pad will be installed in the cars, which will prevent a possible fire from the battery, which could occur if the battery were short-circuited. Of the thousands of cars mentioned, 700 cars reached customers, the rest remained with the manufacturer.

The Volkswagen brand itself is facing an order of magnitude greater problem. It convenes over 58,000 Passat, Golf, Tiguan and Arteon cars worldwide. Cupra will have over 30,000 cars repaired, with Škoda at 15,636 cars worldwide and 6,320 at Škoda. The “best” was Seat, which only has to take care of less than 800 cars. According to the Svolavacky.cz website, the internal codes of the convening event for individual brands are as follows:10H5“ (VW), „10H6“(Skoda),”10H7“ (Seat/Cupra) a „10H8“ (Audi).
