Škoda Auto has an endangered half of the models, parts from Ukraine are missing

Škoda Auto, with 40,000 employees, is in a critical situation. “Cable harnesses are starting to run out and there is no replacement production. It is very difficult to predict the development and it is not possible to estimate exactly which day the lines will stop and for how long, “Škoda Auto spokeswoman Simona Havlíková confirmed Práva.

“The situation is very difficult and critical for us,” added spokesman Štěpán Řehák, who is in charge of the Enyaq model, which has been in production for more than a week.

At the same time, the carmaker has not yet resolved replacement deliveries of door panels to the best-selling Octavia model. Although these cars are being manufactured, they are left unfinished and are waiting for the doors to be finished.

At the end of January, a huge fire destroyed the production and storage halls of one of the carmaker’s suppliers, which provided the door panels for cars, directly in Mladá Boleslav. Four out of eight models are now in a critical situation. “Fabia, Superb, Kodiaq and Karoq continue to be produced,” Havlíková added.

The company was considering and is probably still considering the possibility of moving the entire production of cable harnesses from Ukraine to the Czech Republic. However, the transfer would probably affect hundreds of employees and their families, which is not easy to implement.
