Škoda adapts the new Octavia RS to UK police emergency transport

The new OCTAVIA RS joins the wide range of ŠKODA cars adapted to the needs of the British police.

ŠKODA is now offering its new OCTAVIA RS high-performance hatchback to the UK police fleet under the blue light conversion scheme. The model joins the wide range of other ŠKODA cars, including the KODIAQ, SCALA and SUPERB, which have already been adapted and made available to the police force.

To create a traffic police RS, ŠKODA has equipped the car with LED lights on the windscreen, radiator grille, boot lid and number plate, as well as a three-tone siren. There is also a light bar on the roof, and the car is stenciled in a traditional Battenburg design.

The ŠKODA team of conversion specialists also offers additional modifications if they are needed by one of the police services and units. Previous ŠKODA blue light cars were equipped with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to combat aggressive driving and identify uninsured cars, while some cars were equipped with air-conditioned dog compartments for special units that work with dogs.

However, without ŠKODA modifications, the RS traffic police car is an almost standard OCTAVIA RS hatchback. The 2-liter petrol engine produces 242 hp, which is delivered to the front wheels with a seven-speed automatic transmission. As a result, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds, which should allow the police to get to the scene quickly.

There is a 10-inch central display in the passenger compartment and a digital instrument cluster in the ŠKODA Virtual Driver’s Display, standard, to give police officers access to navigation and car data. Other standard features include LED Matrix headlights, adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors. Front seat heating is also standard to keep police officers warm on cold winter mornings.
