The team of Slovak skier Petra Vlhová is one of the smaller ones in the World Cup carousel. While in technical disciplines they manage to cover most things themselves, in speed disciplines it is more difficult. The track is longer and that’s why they need more people to be able to record the ride well.

In the past, they solved it by joining the team of the Czech national team member Ester Ledecká, but the cooperation ended and it was not supposed to continue this season. Things have changed slightly. However, we cannot talk about a full resumption of cooperation.
Petra Vlhová for ŠPORT.sk after the first training session in Zauchensee, Austria, she revealed that her team had established new collaborations, but she could not say more specifically which ones. “We are connected with other teams, there are more of us. I don’t know exactly who is there, but I know that the Czechs are also there, ” Slovak skier said.
Her coach Mauro Pini could explain the cooperation in more detail. “Several teams work together, we are part of an international group. With the Czech Republic, Sweden, Australia and some other smaller teams, ” said for ŠPORT.sk. Petra Vlhová’s team has again cooperated with Ester Ledecká’s team in at least this way.

In this way, too, smaller teams can compete with larger ones that have many members and do not need to connect with anyone. These include, for example, Switzerland, which has nine female skiers in Zauchensee, Italy with eight and Austria with twelve competitors.
Petra Vlhová went her first downhill in the season, she missed all previous races. She finished 35th in training with a loss of 3.51 seconds. “The performance will not be until Saturday’s race, today was just the first touch for her,” Mauro Pini answered the question of what she says about her performance in training.
Overall, the Swiss coach was in a good mood. Together with the team, they enjoy great conditions and wonderful weather in the Austrian Zauchensee. “We have perfect conditions, there is great snow and hills, well-prepared slope. This is the perfect first day of speed events of the season for us. ”

The fact that Petra Vlhová prematurely won a small slalom globe on Tuesday in Schladming also contributed significantly to the good mood. Now she can fully concentrate on the Olympics, which is one of the reasons why she came to Zauchensee for downhill and super-G.
“We have a lot of confidence in technical disciplines. Now we’re going to test the speed to prepare for the Olympics, especially the Alpine Combined, ” Pini revealed.
The program is favorable for Petra Vlhová at the Olympics. First there is a huge slalom and slalom, then then super-G, downhill and finally alpine combination are on the program. Whether they will go to the Olympics and the speed disciplines can be decided after Vlh’s most popular technical races. “We will see. We will decide after the first week, ” Mauro Pini commented on whether I would be speeding in Beijing.
After Zauchensee and before the Olympics, there are three more events on the program. In Cortina d’Ampezzo there will be a downhill and a super-G, in Kronplatz a huge slalom and at the end in Garmisch-Partenkirchen there will be a downhill and a super-G again. Petra Vlhová’s team does not have an exact program yet. “We are close to leaving the Olympics, so we decide from day to day,” added at the end for ŠPORT.sk Mauro Pini.
