Skien, News | Good news for thousands of patients after the fire

It’s been over a week since Gulset’s medical office burned down. A teenage girl has been reported for serious damage after the fire.

It is not possible to work or receive patients in the Nyhusvegen building, which has been the only medical center in the district for several decades. All appointments for the current week have been cancelled.

Since last Friday, the medical practice has temporarily set up in the Skien Ambulance Service offices. There they offered immediate help, handled medicines and urgent sick calls.

At the same time, the general practitioners worked with the municipality of Skien to get the computer system up and running, along with the time register and patient records. This was saved during the fire.

It has now been clarified that Gulset’s practice will continue with a temporary location in the emergency room, until a more permanent solution is in place. It has also been decided what will happen to dating in the coming weeks.

– Gulset legekontor borrows four doctors’ offices in the emergency room, covering four patient lists. They can use the available rooms. It’s very good to have them here, says Silje Victoria Solbakken, acting department head of the emergency room.

Important message

This week, Doctor Gulset’s office is ready to accept patients with an appointment. All requests must go through their landline number, 35 50 55 20, or the patient cloud.

– Patients who have made an appointment meet at Skien’s ER. Now the computer system with patient records is up and running, says family physician Kristin Prestegaard of the Gulset doctor’s office.

Point out that there may still be reduced capacity and hope for understanding.

– We have come a long way, but it is not the same as when we worked at Gulset’s. We can accept patients by appointment, but availability and service will not be the same. People can’t show up here without an appointment.

Primary care physicians continue to look for more permanent locations.

– There are some options, but nothing is clear. We are looking for solutions in consultation with the owners of farms we rent from in Gulset and with the municipality of Skien, says Prestegaard.

Many reactions

TA visited Doctor Gulset’s office in the ER earlier this week.

– It’s been a very hectic few days, said GP Fredrik Wågene.

They have received a lot of feedback from patients after the fire hit the doctor’s office in the district.

– Most patients show a great understanding that not everything is up and running, says Wågene.

At the same time, the secretaries Sara Brekka and Tonje Markussen said that there are also patients who become discouraged and uncertain about the situation.

– There are many people calling, but we have only one phone and so sometimes there is a long waiting time.

Accused 13 year old

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 13-year-old girl was charged with grievous damage after the Nov. 17 fire. She is also linked to the damage at Gulset on 19 and 20 November.

– There is no reason to believe these fires are related to others recently in downtown Skien, police wrote in the press release.

The accused 13-year-old is followed by child protection and other bodies.
