Skien: – Massive police chase after stabbing

The perpetrator is at large, and the entire area will be thoroughly searched, including with the help of dogs and helicopters, the South-East police district writes on Twitter.

The offended man has been taken to hospital with unknown extent of damage, the police say.

On a jog

According to operations manager Åsmund Sanda, the offended man was on a jogging trip when he was stabbed.

– We came in contact with a man in his 50s who had injuries compatible with stabbing. He has been out on a business trip and from what we understand, the incident happened in a forest area.

The police were notified of the stabbing at 18.30.

The description of the perpetrator is vague, and the police therefore do not want to provide any details about this.

– As of now, we have an unknown perpetrator that we do not know anything about, nor do we know the background to the incident, he says.

Difficult search

The task leader asks people who may have information in the case to report.

– Now there is a significant number of police searching outside. I do not have the specific number, but we have helicopters, dogs and crews from Oslo and national aid resources.

He describes the search as difficult.

– But considering the time that has passed now, and that it is a large area. So yes, it is a demanding piece of work, says Sanda.

Police are asking people to stay away from the area.

– The police ask other forest walkers to stay away from the area Åletjern and Ugleveien until the situation is clarified. We also want tips from people who may have seen something, writes the South-East police district on Twitter.
