The Alpine Ski World Cup races in North America started with two cancellations. After a men’s downhill run in Lake Louise was impossible on Friday due to too much fresh snow, the women’s giant slalom in Killington was canceled after nine runners on Saturday and canceled half an hour later. The reason for the interruption were problems with the timing, because the wind was blowing incessantly, it was no longer continued.
A slalom is on the program on Sunday. There were no races in the previous year because of the corona pandemic in Killington.

The giant slalom was postponed by half an hour from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (CET) due to strong winds and the start was reduced. The runners found no fair conditions at the start of the race, but they were let go anyway. At the time of the interruption, the French Tessa Worley was ahead of the Slovak Petra Vlhova (+0.18 seconds) and the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.29). Ramona Siebenhofer was the only Austrian to cross the finish line in seventh place (+0.94).
Local hero Mikaela Shiffrin was last 1.38 back. She then said in an ORF TV interview that it was “very windy” and a struggle because you didn’t know from which direction it was coming. “But I don’t think it’s dangerous,” said the American.
