Brignone wins station wagon and now leads in the overall World Cup – strong Swiss team without a podium
There is no further podium for Switzerland in the World Cup combination of Crans-Montana. Michelle Gisin and Wendy Holdener finished fourth and fifth. Federica Brignone wins.
With Wendy Holdener and Michelle Gisin, Switzerland represents the world champion and the Olympic champion in combination. On the Valais high plateau, however, it had already become apparent in the Super-G that it would be nothing in the battle for victory. Gisin was eighth 1.1 seconds back before the slalom, Holdener had even lost one and a half seconds as tenth.
Both worked their way forward in slalom as expected, but not quite as successfully as hoped. So it was no longer enough on the podium. Gisin was only missing 11 hundredths.

Federica Brignone continued her great series in Crans-Montana. She had already won the combination here in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and now she had a fourth success. Last but not least, Brignone benefited from the retirement of Slovakian Petra Vlhova, who was on her way to victory in the slalom.
Brignone finally won ahead of Austrian Franziska Gritsch and Czech Ester Ledecka. The Italian won the 15th World Cup in her career, the fifth this winter, thanks to which she now took the lead in the overall World Cup.
She is currently 73 points ahead of the American Mikaela Shiffrin, who continues to pause after her father’s death. An Italian has never conquered the large crystal ball.

In addition to Gisin and Holdener, World Cup points secured three other Swiss women who all made it into the top 15. Sarganserländer Rahel Kopp, fourth in the combination in Crans-Montana last year, was ninth this time. Priska Nufer from Obwald and Jasmina Suter from Schwyzer ranked 12th and 13th. For Jasmina Suter, this was her best World Cup result. (Zap / SDA)
