Former US ski racer Lindsey Vonn posted an emotional message on Instagram. Her dog has cancer.

New York – Although Lindsey Vonn is an icon of winter sports, the American was there behind the scenes for her fans on Instagram at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and was even allowed to hold the Olympic torch for a short time. After the eventful time in France, shocking news awaited the 39-year-old when she returned home. Her dog Leo has cancer.

In an emotional post on Instagram, Vonn explains how she noticed something was wrong when she returned home: “When I came home from Paris, I noticed lumps on his lymph and then I took him to the vet.” There, the four-legged friend was diagnosed with lymph node cancer.

Vonn’s dog is already undergoing chemotherapy treatment. The therapy is apparently working well. Leo is “a little tired,” but still a “happy guy.” The last few weeks have been particularly tough for the former world-class skier.

Vonn is there for her dog

Lindsey Vonn has had her dog for eleven years. He was also her first dog. The 39-year-old cannot imagine “life without him,” as she explains. Vonn is ready to support her beloved pet “with all his treatments in the coming months.” Vonn posted numerous pictures of her four-legged friend in her post on the social media platform.

Vonn can also be seen in many of the emotionally charged pictures with her dog – sometimes on a trip in the car, sometimes in a snuggled-up pose in her own four walls. Leo, however, is a fighter. Before Vonn adopted him, the furry friend was hit by a car, as the former skier explained at the beginning of June. In addition to Leo, Vonn also has her dogs Jade and Lucy with her, who are sure to give her and Leo further support during this difficult time. (jsk)
