9 kilos less: Kilde is fighting for a comeback

This was followed by several operations and an intensive rehabilitation phase, which was promising until the summer. But an infection in his shoulder brought new complications. The inflammatory complication required another operation and ten days of antibiotic treatment, which delayed the healing process and, above all, cost muscle mass and strength.

Strict diet and stubborn infection

In addition to intensive antibiotic treatment, Kilde had to follow a strict diet with no carbohydrates or sugar to fight the infection. The ski racer lost a lot of weight and had to postpone his comeback planned for the 2024/25 season.

Goal of the 2026 Olympics: Kilde remains motivated

Despite the setbacks, Kilde remains determined and hopes to return for the 2025/26 season. His goal: the 2026 Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo. “I am determined to come back stronger than ever,” said the 32-year-old Kilde. He receives support from his fiancée Mikaela Shiffrin, who supports him during this difficult time – including a love song. The record driver surprised everyone with a romantic serenade on Instagram.

Is Shiffrin already practicing for a second career?

The start of the World Cup with fifth place in Sölden didn’t go quite as planned for the US superstar either. However, it remains more than realistic that she will celebrate her 100th win this season. On Saturday, Shiffrin is chasing victory number 98 in the slalom in Levi. In case the country girl is thinking about a career change: Mika also cuts a great figure as a musician.
