Actress Gwyneth Paltrow (50), who went to trial in a civil lawsuit for colliding with a man in his 70s while skiing with his family seven years ago, was finally cleared of the hit-and-run charges.

A jury for the District Court in Park City, Utah, USA, ruled on the 30th (local time) dismissing the damages claim filed by retired optometrist Terry Sanderson (76) against Paltrow. In the trial that lasted eight days from the 21st, the arguments of both sides were tightly contested, but the jury judged that Paltrow was not at fault or responsible for the crash and Sanderson’s injury that occurred on the ski slope at the time.

Sanderson is seeking more than $300,000 in compensation for Paltrow’s distraction while looking at his children at the Deer Valley ski resort in Utah in 2016, causing him to hit himself and break four ribs and suffer a concussion. The lawsuit was filed in 2019. He initially claimed $3.1 million, then reduced his claim when the court rejected it.

Paltrow counterclaimed and fought in court, symbolically claiming $1 and attorney’s fees.

Sanderson also claimed that the public criticism and insults that he tried to damage Paltrow’s reputation and receive a lot of money caused great psychological damage, but the jury did not accept it.

In a statement released after the verdict, Paltrow said, “I feel that acquiescence to false claims is a compromise of my integrity.”

Paltrow’s attorneys said in their final argument prior to the verdict that day, “It would have been easier to simply write a check and settle it. But what kind of teaching will it be to the children?” he explained the background of the long-term lawsuit.

Paltrow said the ski trip in 2016 was Paltrow’s first family trip with her current husband and then-boyfriend, Brad Perchuck, bringing both their children. also claimed
