The Vaudois scored twice in the individual ski mountaineering event at the Youth Olympic Games on Friday morning in Villars.
Caroline Ulrich (17, La Tour-de-Peilz) threw her arms in the air after joining the finish in 58’34”48 with an appreciable margin of 1’04 over Thibe Deseyn (16, Leysin). While 23 competitors showed up at the start and 22 finished the event, the two Swiss entered assumed their status as favorites over the 7.2 km course.
The podium was completed by Frenchwoman Margot Ravinel.
After two tests, the Swiss delegation has three medals. Earlier Friday morning, Bernese Amélie Klopfenstein captured gold on the Super-G in alpine skiing.
