Skepticism about cross-vaccination in Bergen – several leave the vaccine station

Bergens Tidende has received several inquiries from readers who are skeptical about mixing the two corona vaccines. The vaccinators have also noticed this, says Hossein Tehrani, operations manager at the vaccine stations in Bergen.

Of all those who were vaccinated on Thursday and Friday, just under 20 people chose to leave the vaccination station. The rest chose to take the vaccine, says Tehrani to the newspaper.

He says he has respect and understanding that people are worried, and that extra measures have therefore been initiated to inform about so-called cross-vaccination.

Preben Aavitsland at the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) writes in an email that it has nothing to do with whether you get a dose of two with the Moderna vaccine when the first was Pfizer.

– We consider these to be equal, with the same effect and the same side effects. Several countries do as we do and mix the two vaccines. Since the vaccines are almost exactly the same, it is expected that the combination provides as good protection as two doses of the same type, writes Aavitsland.

FHI says they can not guarantee that people who say no to Moderna as a second dose will be offered Pfizer on a later occasion.
