SKELLEFTEÅ. Skellefteå has broken a ten-year nightmare streak.
Now the team has once again won a SC final match at home after 3,654 days and 1–0 against Rögle.
– It was about time, you can safely say, says Elias Salomonsson.
At first it was the guests who, despite a few days rest, looked a little hotter. But a numerical superiority caused Skellefteå to wake up after just over half the period and the initiative swung.
Well before the second period, it was also goalless.
In addition to a Skellefteå steering when the Pudas/Sandberg company was in front, Rögle also had the most dangerous chance. This without even creating it ourselves.

The hero: “Awesome feeling”
It was 0-0 until there were four minutes left. Then Linus Lindström shot the redeeming goal in front of the home team.
– It’s a great feeling. To be able to contribute and make the team win in front of the crowd and celebrate with them, says the forward.
It is Skellefteå’s first home victory in a SC final since April 19, 2014. This after ten losses.
– That is my big dream. I grew up here and have followed this team for all the years and seen two SM golds. I sat at home and watched and celebrated afterwards. It’s been really cool, that’s all you want. Now we have a great chance. This year we will take it. I have lost two finals and now it is time to win, says Lindström.
Rögle’s first loss
The loss was Rögle’s first in the year’s playoffs after ten consecutive victories.
– An even match with two good teams. They draw the longest straw today. There are certainly things we can improve, but we’ll have to deal with that tomorrow, says Rögle’s Dennis Everberg.
