Sjors Ultee is no longer a trainer of SC Cambuur. The club has suspended the 36-year-old Utrechter.
Ultee was appointed in Leeuwarden at the end of the last calendar year, with the aim of keeping SC Cambuur in the Premier League. That assignment failed. Cambuur has so far performed disappointingly in the first division. The start was still very good, but the past three matches were lost to Jong FC Utrecht, Jong PSV and FC Dordrecht.
What was particularly striking in those matches was the dramatic organization at Cambuur. The team conceded no fewer than 12 goals. Cambuur saw insufficient prospects in this, also because the defensive instability was already visible last season.
Ultee still had a contract with Cambuur until the end of the season. In principle, the club already has a successor for Ultee under contract with Henk de Jong. It will be known in the short term whether De Jong will actually return to the group.
