Mexico City. Dissident teachers from 25 states of the country attend the Sixth Extraordinary National Political Congress of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), which will be held from April 26 to 28, in order to approve a unitary national action plan, in context of the federal electoral process next June.
Gathered at the national headquarters of the CNTE in Mexico City, the general secretary of section 22 of Oaxaca, Yenny Aracely Pérez Martínez, assured that the dissident teachers face a political and social situation that “should allow us to resolve our demands.” central”, and recalled that one of the objectives of the meeting is to ratify one of the guiding principles of the coordinator, which is the political, ideological and organizational independence of all political parties.
He affirmed that the CNTE is not only a union movement, but a mass movement, because it also brings together social groups, students, workers and peasants, and stressed that “we have several governments that have only sought to divide and fragment the CNTE, that is why we come here to build the unity of the movement and the demand for a solution, because those who left with the siren song that everything would change, today we see that this is not the case.”
Moments before 2:13 p.m., when the CNTE congress was inaugurated, Pedro Hernández, leader of the dissident teachers of section 9 of Mexico City, pointed out that it will be the delegates and representatives of the teaching bases “who “They will decide whether or not they are satisfied with the answers that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has given us, and they will determine the unitary fight plan in the short, medium and long term.”
The work of the meeting was divided into five tables. The first will analyze the national and international context; the second, the educational and labor reform promoted by this government; the third will reflect on the reorganization of the CNTE; the fourth, the construction of alliances and a national united front, and the fifth, will analyze and propose a strategic tactical plan.
The CNTE reported that it will not be until next Sunday, when it will announce at a press conference the resolutions of its congress, as well as whether or not an indefinite work stoppage was approved for next May 15.
