 "Sixteen-Year-Old Russian Tennis Player Mirra Andrejevová Faces Controversial Match Penalty at Wimbledon")
Sixteen-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andrejevová did not manage the end of the round of eight Wimbledon singles match against the American Madison Keys. At 2:5 and 40:40 in the third set, she threw the racket several times, for which the Swedish empire referee Louise Azemarová Engzellová punished her by taking away the match.
Andrejevová claimed that she slipped and Engzellová damaged her with her verdict. However, the referee insisted and so Keys had the first match point at her disposal, which she converted. The frustrated Russian refused to shake Engzell’s hand after the match. Andrejevová became the youngest Wimbledon eight-finalist since 1997, when her compatriot Anna Kurnikova advanced to the elite 16.
