A 16-year-old Belgian died on Thursday after a skiing accident in Italy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms this.
The teenager was skiing with his family on the 2,700-metre-high Monte Fraiteve mountain on Thursday when he lost control of his skis and ended up off-piste around 1.30pm.
He may have suddenly become unwell, causing him to fall heavily. He was taken by helicopter to Turin hospital, where he died.
The victim’s family will receive consular assistance with the repatriation of the body, a Foreign Affairs spokesperson said.
