Sixteen tips about man who stabbed 21-year-old woman out of nowhere

The 21-year-old woman cycled to a cafe in the center of Vlaardingen after a hockey tournament at the HC Schiedam association last Saturday evening. There she had arranged to meet her boyfriend.

While she was cycling there, she was attacked ‘out of nowhere’ by a young man in dark clothes, according to police around 11:45 pm. It had first cycled past her, but then turned around.

Images of this were shown for the first time in the investigation program yesterday.

The woman was not immediately aware that she was being stabbed, but first thought that the man had hit her hard on the back as she passed. Later she realized that there must be more wrong and got off her bike. Bystanders who wanted to help her saw that there was still a knife in her back. The woman was rushed to hospital, but has since returned home.

‘Send new images’

After the broadcast of Opsporing Verzocht, at least sixteen tips came in about the cyclist, but no one has yet been arrested. The police are not yet able to say anything about the usefulness of those tips. The tips are now first checked and the police are still calling on residents to send new video images.
