The magistrates of the second section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands have sentenced a man to six years in prison for whom it is considered proven that, in addition to acting as a pirate driver, he was engaged in drug trafficking in Ibiza.
The man, 32 years old and of Venezuelan nationality, was arrested by the Civil Guard in September 2019 during a control in Sant Antoni. He was caught with a large number of types of drugs.
In the vehicle the defendant was driving, the agents found almost 500 MDMA pills and 439 containers with drugs of different classes.
After being arrested, he was placed at the disposal of the guard court, which ordered his entry into prison on a provisional basis, where he has remained since then until the trial was held and was sentenced in a sentence signed on July 30, ten months. after being arrested.
Initially, the Ibiza Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of seven years and four months for the commission of a crime against public health, a request that the representative of the Public Ministry did not modify after hearing the parties in the oral hearing, which It was held in Palma on July 23rd.
His lawyer, Joan Cerdá, has filed an appeal before the Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands (Cerdà) because the Venezuelan assures that all that drug was not his but, perhaps, of the person he was transporting (in the taxi illegal), apparently a young man of British nationality who could not be located, or even from other previous clients who would have ridden in the car, something that the magistrates of the second section of the Provincial Court have ruled out.
