A 29-year-old man was sentenced this week to an unconditional prison sentence of six years because of him on July 16, 2019 in a snack bar on Eerste Oosterparkstraat in East twice up close another man (33) shot.

The man also has to pay 10 thousand euros in compensation to the victim, who was hit in the cheek and buttock. The perpetrator and the victim got into an argument in a restaurant earlier in the evening. When the two bumped into each other a little later in the snack bar, the perpetrator opened fire, and at the time of the incident, customers were also present in the snack bar.
The court ruled that it was not premeditated, because it is not clear what the suspect did in the time between the meeting in the restaurant and that in the snack bar. Whether the man already intended to shoot cannot be proven.
