Their names are Maella, Gözde, Nathan, Atilla, Clémence, Assma. Six students in pro “management management of organizations” at IUT GEA (1), six young people driven by the same desire: to help disadvantaged families go on vacation. “This project is particularly close to our hearts”, explains dracénois Nathan Barjon, 21 years old. First of all in terms of solidarity, in these particularly difficult times. Secondly, because the operation is carried out as part of a tutored project which counts for the achievement of the diploma. “Previously, we did not know the Secours populaire, nor really their actions”recognizes the Vidaubannaise Gözde Aydogan, 20 years old.
“The theme of work was not chosen at random, as it affects all six of us”, she confirms. This is a topical issue, which seems all the more relevant to us as this associative structure has come to the aid of the students during the confinement. “It was important to return the favor.”
“A Fair Return of Things”
Indeed, for several years now, a strong link has been created between the establishment and the Secours populaire. “This action makes it possible to return the lift, it is a just return of things”says Sandrine Aubert-Cam, teacher responsible for project management. “It’s important to have these partners.”
After several weeks of preparation, the six students managed to organize two events: a jazz and rock concert in the auditorium of the Chabran cultural center (6 January) and a solidarity lunch at the Jean-Moulin high school (13 January). “For the concert we wanted to reach as wide an audience as possible. It’s interesting to mix the two worlds, jazz and rock “, says Maella Baron, 20 years old.
The groups “Exit” and “New jazzbeen” will be at the front of the stage. This event, as well as the various collections, already made by small groups in the supermarkets and hypermarkets of Dracénie, should make it possible to finance the solidarity meal, on the theme of the 80s. “With inflation, the crisis and Christmas on the way, we see that people find it difficult to make a donation. But the gesture is still there”assures Maella Baron.
Financing the holidays of ten families
Furthermore, a reduced rate will be applied to students who wish to participate in the evenings. “The price of the concert, like that of the meal, is a sum for a student. And we want them to participate”.
The students fully committed themselves to their project to define the party menu. The goal is to allow ten families to go on holiday, or collect between 5,000 and 6,000 euros at the end of the two events.
“We can accommodate up to 150 people for the concert in the auditorium and hope to attract around 100 for the meal.” Meanwhile, on December 17, students will participate in the “Green Santa” operation of the Secours Populaire. Another moment of solidarity in perspective.
