New police attack in Béziers. A week after eight police officers were injured when they had been called for the burglary of a tobacconist, six officers were injured during the night of Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 August during a road check in the Béziers sector -beach.
According to France Blue Hérault, the six police officers were injured last night during an identity check. France 3 Occitanie reports that the police attempted to control a car that “zigzagged”. The driver was very alcoholic, as well as its three passengers, aged 25 to 30. As soon as they got out of the car, the people in the vehicle moved debated “very violently”, according to the police. They did indeed punch and kick.
One of the injured police officers has a fractured cheekbone and orbital floor and another lost consciousness for a few minutes. Three of the four suspected assailants were arrested, the last one still at large.
Alliance denounced “serious and intolerable facts”
According to France Bleu Hérault, these are young people from the Villeneuve-lès-Béziers area. The attackers arrested have not yet been interviewed because of their blood alcohol level. After this new attack on police officers, the police union Alliance denounced this Sunday morning “serious and intolerable facts”.
