The infected are between the ages of five and 45, according to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
Four of the infected live in Trøndelag, one in Viken and one in Vestfold and Telemark.
Two of them have developed the serious complication hemolytic uremic syndrome.
It is a disease that most often starts with an intestinal infection, and which after a few days leads to inflammation of the kidneys, writes PEDIATRIC.
Unknown source of infection
It is not yet known what the source of the infection is
– But it is common for gastrointestinal bacteria to become infected through food, says senior doctor Silje Bruland Lavoll at FHI.
They cannot say whether this is a limited outbreak, or whether there may be new cases.
– Investigative work can be complicated and take time, and in many cases we are unable to find the source of infection or to clarify whether it is a common source.
