In recent days, the police have arrested six men from The Hague, Delft, Rijswijk and Gouda who are suspected of being involved in the riots on the Malieveld on June 21. The police expect to deal with two more suspects in the short term for the disturbances that arose after the prohibited demonstration of the Virus Madness action group.

Virus madness wanted to demonstrate against the corona measures on June 21. This demonstration was banned by then Mayor Johan Remkes. Nevertheless, protesters came to The Hague, after which riots between the protesters and the police outbreaks. The police arrested a total of 425 people that Sunday.
Eleven of those arrested rioters are suspected of open violence. In the search for the other suspects, the police distributed images of the riots through the investigation program Team West. Here the photos of eight people were shown. The police said they received a large number of tips, including the identities of six of the suspects. The police also discovered two other suspects from their own investigation. Of these eight suspects, six were arrested this week, and the police expect to arrest the other two suspected rioters later.
Released
On Tuesday, a 31-year-old man from Delft and a 39-year-old man from Gouda were arrested. The person from Delft is still detained and will be brought before the examining magistrate on Thursday. The man from Gouda has been released, but remains suspect in the case.
On Thursday, the police arrested four more suspects, namely two men from The Hague aged 33 and 22, a 29-year-old man from Delft and a 48-year-old man from Rijswijk. They will be questioned by the police. With these arrests, the number of arrests for open violence has risen to 22. The police are still looking for the identities of three suspects. The photos of these persons are still online.
Bus company
In addition to the investigation into the riots around the Malieveld, the police also launched an investigation into criminal statements on social media that were made after the prohibited demonstration. For example, a bus company involved in the transportation of arrested demonstrators was attacked. Five persons have already been heard throughout the Netherlands for this and the police expect to speak to four more soon. These nine persons are suspected of sedition, threat and insult.
