Strong support for the consistent Corona course from Mayor Ludwig, high scores for him in a direct election
Vienna (OTS) –
- 72% of Viennese support Mayor Ludwig’s advice to have as little contact as possible with other people in the next few weeks
- 62% of the Viennese and Viennese would rather support further stricter Corona measures if the Corona numbers continue to rise, 46% still see the stricter course in eastern Austria as “too little strict and consistent”,
- 79% of Viennese rate the free test options in Vienna as sufficient
- 58% of Viennese rate the work of the Viennese city government from the SPÖ and NEOS as positive
- 67% of the Viennese would elect Michael Ludwig in a direct mayor election, 70% are of the opinion that he is a worthy successor to Michael Häupl

The second W24 city barometer in 2021 shows: six months after the municipal council election in October 2020, the Vienna city government received good grades and increasing levels of approval. The mayor’s consistent course on the Corona issue met with a high level of approval, and at the same time the Viennese were very satisfied with the test infrastructure and the capacities made available.
Stadtfernsehen W24 carried out the barometer together with “Triple M Matzka Market and Opinion Research” under the leadership of Christina Matzka.
“The Viennese are behind the stricter corona measures in eastern Austria and Ludwig’s cautious line. 46% even describe the measures as not being too strict, with the exception of the FPÖ voters, a majority of all party supporters agree with the majority of the stricter measures. Ludwig’s advice to limit physical contacts as much as possible in the next few weeks is supported by 72% of Viennese, 62% would even advocate further stricter measures if the corona numbers continue to rise, “summarizes Matzka.
