Kiev: Six people were killed in a Russian attack yesterday in Kupiensk, northeastern Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the attack in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, near the border with Russia, came after a group of attack drones destroyed warehouses and killed one person overnight in the western city of Lviv.
With this, the death toll has risen to six. Four men and two women were killed in Kupyansk as a result of a guided aerial Russian strike, regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said on social media. Emergency services are still working at the scene of the blast, he said. Russian forces captured the Kharkiv region at the beginning of the invasion, which began in February 2022. But the Ukrainian army later captured it. Also, in the southern town of Kherson, a policeman was killed and two passengers were injured after being hit by a trolleybus. One of the injured, a 57-year-old man, later died of his injuries.
Meanwhile, seven drones were shot down in Lviv, collapsing warehouses and causing fires, Governor Maxim Kositsky said in a telegram. A warehouse of the non-governmental organization Caritas-Spez, which was storing 300 tons of emergency supplies, was completely destroyed by fire, the United Nations Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military said it shot down 27 Iranian-made Shahid drones out of 30 launched by Russia overnight.
