Six people were killed in a plane crash in Russia’s Far East near Khabarovsk, Russia’s civil protection service said on Thursday.
None of the people on the plane survived.
The rescue and search operation walked the taiga for five hours, searching for the scene of the disaster until it was found.
The helicopter crew had previously noticed debris, but due to strong winds and large trees, the aircraft could not land in the mountainous area.
It is not clear at this time what caused the disaster.
The An-26 disappeared from radar screens 40 kilometers from Khabarovsk Airport on Wednesday night.
As explained by the authorities, the aircraft, which is normally used for military purposes, had to test navigation and radio surveillance systems in the region.
Due to bad weather and darkness, the search for the lost plane was difficult.
In July, an airplane of this model crashed in another region of the Far East – Kamchatka. None of the 28 people on the plane survived.-
